The practice of generating mindful awareness is not separate from our daily life. We can do it when we pause at a red light, when we're waiting in a queue, when we pick up a mug of tea. Mindfulness is about the attention and attitude we bring to this moment of our life.

Chocolate meditation gives us a way to let our mind and body rest on one thing, and the practice strengthens our ability to savour our food. Enjoy :-)

You can facilitate chocolate meditation for others with these meditation prompts:

1) Let your body be at ease. Take a moment to enjoy the natural rhythm of your breathing.

2) Hold the bar or piece of chocolate. Sense its weight in your hand and the textures of the wrapping.

3) Notice how you’re feeling - curious, eager, impatient, happy...

4) Break off a piece of chocolate and explore the colours and textures of its landscape.

5) Smell the chocolate. Let yourself savour the aroma for a moment.

6) Place the piece of chocolate on your tongue. Allow it to melt in its own time.

7) Keep allowing the melting without interfering. Is it possible for you to simply receive the delicious taste of chocolate?

8) Aim to be receptive and curious. Notice where the taste of chocolate ‘ends’ in your mouth or throat. If strong thoughts come up (e.g., ‘I want to chew’), unclip them and reestablish your attention on the chocolate.

9) Allow yourself to have nothing to do for this moment of your life except savour melting chocolate. Yummy!

10) How does post-chocolate life feel? You might feel satisfied, or want another piece. Simply notice.
