Guided meditations can help us to pause, rest, focus and deeply experience the present moment of our life. As a practice, they remind us to come back to ourselves over and over, so that resting our presence in our body becomes a habit.

These meditations can be used when sitting or walking. Bring your mind home to your body and allow it to rest there, in your living presence.

These recordings are offered freely, and donations really help make them possible. If you’d like to make a donation to support this work, you can donate via Stripe (white button) or via Paypal (blue button).

Dropping into presence

Having the courage to witness ourselves with kindness is a foundational practice in living an authentic, meaningful life.

In this meditation, we drop into our presence so that we can see ourselves through eyes of love and understanding. We use the visualization of a pebble being dropped into a river to help us sink down into our still presence.

We gently explore where we are grasping and where we are pushing away. Then we listen inwards to sense what our heart needs.

May this practice help you to come home to yourself.

With deep gratitude, Orlaith

The 'Dropping into Presence' practice

Imagine a smooth rounded pebble resting in the palm of your hand. Take a moment to visualise it - the colour(s) and texture, the weight and temperature against your skin.

You can have the intention: may I listen honestly to myself.

Imagine holding the pebble over a river. Let it drop into the water.

Then observe the pebble. It lands in the river with a ‘plop’ and begins to sink. If there are strong currents, it may zig zag as it falls. Let the pebble sink down into deeper waters until you sense the river bed, and observe it coming to rest on the sandy bottom.

The pebble sits in stillness. You may sense the motion all around - the flowing waters, river plants wafting gently, small aquatic creatures and fish moving through.

Come back to the pebble, sensing its stillness within all this motion.

Here there is nothing to prove. There is no-one you need to be. There is only awareness of your authentic experience.

You can ask yourself honestly:

How does it feel to be me in this moment?

Am I gripping anything? (E.g., a thought, memory, belief, sensation)

Am I resisting anything?

Listen in to see what your heart needs. When you are ready, you can offer gratitude to your self for this space of deep care. Then stretch and move forward gently into your day.
